A and J are warm at last – replacement boiler Skelmersdale

We had a lovely “unseasonably mild” December last year, followed by mother nature getting her own back on us with a cold snap in January. With this erratic use, your boiler might not have known what was going on, and it seems like for A and J in Skelmersdale, their boiler decided to give up the ghost and their heating was working erratically and the hot water not working at all. They’d been having problems for a while and it wasn’t workable anymore. Their landlord got in touch with us to see what we could do to get things sorted.

The pressure seems a little high

 

A and J weren’t sure if they would qualify for the HHCRO scheme to get some help towards the cost of a new boiler. Their landlord was looking to replace the boiler anyway, but they could get a better boiler with a longer warranty if this funding was in place. Primus were available to help – and submitting to our funding partner to check with just A and J’s full names and DOBs, we were able to establish that they did qualify.

 

Screenshot 2016-05-19 11.28.42An EPC was performed on the property to see what funding would be available, and it came back at a favourable enough rate that Primus were able to install within 2 weeks of initially meeting A and J. The landlord approved the boiler installation and we contacted A and J to book them in for an installation date that was good for them and for us.

 

In a matter of hours, the old, temperamental boiler was removed from the property and a new Worcester Greenstar took its place. With a 5 year warranty and an A+ ErP Rating (see here for more information on ErP), the new boiler serves A and J’s heating and hot water needs much better. Also installed was a Salus Programmable Room Thermostat so that the heating would come on, stay on, and go off exactly when, and only when, A and J wanted it to.

Our office manager, Caroline, thanked A for the lovely comments and promised that they would be passed on to the operatives in question. A sent her over a second message:

Hi Caroline, no need for thankyou’s so so happy with everything yesterday,your guys were fabulous so professional. Top Quality workmanship. Was quite amusing last night before bedtime we were so used to the way the old boiler worked that you had to click button off to kill heating .but now WE have a Thermostat and so on say to use. Do went back down stairs and clicked the arrow and “Hey Presto”. We have been so used to using a kettle to do dishes etc.last night it was a novelty turning on tap for hot water lol. WE have lived in an igloo for 2 years. Thanks to you and your staff for very high courteous standards, you have changed everything. Went to boil kettle to do dishes only for hubby to remind me that we don’t need to do that no more .. Thankyou to nice again. With the kindest of regards and best wishes. A xx

We’re so happy that A and J now have a properly working boiler and don’t have to use any workarounds in order to stop themselves from being cold in their own home. Primus guarantees all boiler workmanship for 1 year from the date of installation, so A and J and their landlord do not need to worry about any problems that may crop up all the way through next Winter as well. Worcester also give a 5 year guarantee as long as the landlord keeps up with his annual servicing. We’ll give him a call when it is due, and then we’ll arrange to see A and J again at a time that suits them to give their boiler the once over it needs.
