A and J are warm at last – replacement boiler Skelmersdale

A and J are warm at last – replacement boiler Skelmersdale

We had a lovely “unseasonably mild” December last year, followed by mother nature getting her own back on us with a cold snap in January. With this erratic use, your boiler might not have known what was going on, and it seems like for A and J in Skelmersdale, their boiler decided to give up the ghost and their heating was working erratically and the hot water not working at all. They’d been having problems for a while and it wasn’t workable anymore. Their landlord got in touch with us to see what we could do to get things sorted.   A and J weren’t sure if they would qualify for the HHCRO scheme to get some help towards the cost of a new boiler. Their landlord was looking to replace the boiler anyway, but they could get a better boiler with a longer warranty if this funding was in place. Primus were available to help – and submitting to our funding partner to check with just A and J’s full names and DOBs, we were able to establish that they did qualify.   An EPC was performed on the property to see what funding would be available, and it came back at a favourable enough rate that Primus were able to install within 2 weeks of initially meeting A and J. The landlord approved the boiler installation and we contacted A and J to book them in for an installation date that was good for them and for us.   In a matter of hours, the old, temperamental boiler was removed from the property and a new Worcester Greenstar took its place. With a 5 year warranty and an A+ ErP Rating (see here for more information on ErP), the new boiler serves A and J’s heating and hot water needs much better. Also installed was a Salus Programmable Room Thermostat so that the heating would come on, stay on, and go off exactly when, and only when, A and J wanted it to. A left us this message on our Facebook page: just wanted to send a little message to say A very big thank you to you and your team on an excellent Job done for us today team workers Very Professional indeed enjoyed the whole day and experience.Peter is with us to check things over.Highly Highly recommended xx   Our office manager, Caroline, thanked A...

L’s Houdini Cat – Safe and Sound – Case Study

L’s Houdini Cat – Safe and Sound – Case Study

L in Bolton had a specific and slightly unusual request: Install additional netting fitting on top of existing fence panels to stop cat escaping We’re sure a lot of cat owners have this problem and just don’t know what to do to avoid moggy making a break for freedom. Well, we came to L’s rescue. L’s garden is picturesque, I can’t really understand why her cat didn’t want to stay inside. But cats are good at climbing and they’re good at exploring, so some reinforcements were required for L, and quick! The team attended L’s house very quickly at her earliest convenience and agreed with her what needed to be done to keep the cat from escaping, before getting to work installing the tilted green mesh to give moggy one more obstacle that was maybe just a little bit too tricky, but without spoiling L’s garden. The result is simple yet effective, and not intrusive. L’s cat stays in, and other cats will probably also be kept out.   Here’s what L had to say: “Great bunch of lads who completed the task in a professional and friendly manner. Job was a little unusual as I wanted an escapeproof garden for my Houdini cat. Mission completed. All netted and secure now much to cats disgust. Thanks lads for a great job. Next job for them already discussed.” Very happy to help L! We’ll be seeing you again...

A brand new roof – Case Study

A brand new roof – Case Study

The roof, the roof, the roof is… leaking water quite significantly: Customer: A, in Liverpool, roof issues.           A’s roof was letting in water; stains appearing on the ceiling, water coming through the inside roof lining that was torn. It had been patched up temporarily, but there was serious risk of further damage. A’s insurance provider were going to deal with the final repairs for the roof, but we had to get to that stage first. We visited A’s property immediately, identified roof damage on gable end, and fixed it up there and then to protect the property   in the short term while the insurance was contacted. The next night A contacted us again, water pouring in due to extremely heavy rain and strong winds. Using a scaffold, a temporary water tight seal was put on to protect the roof overnight as the rain was just going to continue to get worse. The next morning, we returned, stripped back the offending roof tiles above the torn lining were removed and plastic sheeting held A’s roof in a safe and watertight condition while another call went into the insurance company. As soon as the approval came in, we got to work. The roof was stripped back, batton refelted where necessary, the roof and chimney rebuilt and pointed. Scaffolding went up for safety, and all of the waste was removed from site to provide the least possible disruption to A’s life. Once it was confirmed the works were done, the insurance company paid the money into A’s account, and this was transferred over to us. Everything is fully guaranteed and should any repairs need performing on A’s new roof, we’ll go straight back out. Not that we anticipate this happening.   Here’s what A had to say: After substantial storm damage to my roof I contacted primus who came out at 8pm in the dark and torrential rain and made my roof water tight as weather was appalling and the damage would have been much more extensive if left open to the elements. Peter and James came back with more workmen the next day and replaced all felt and tiles on my roof with no payment and we’re happy to help deal with my insurance company and wait for payment until I received it, I would highly recommend them for any work needed. I was so impressed...
